Meet the Principal

Melissa Garcia

I am excited to welcome you to the 2025-26 school year! The mission of Laveen Elementary is to educate and inspire all students to achieve high levels of learning, with the following vision: Every Hawk, every day, no exceptions – All means All!

Our school remains dedicated to the success of your children and looks forward to your continued support this year. We are an award-winning school that prioritizes safety and academic achievement. In addition to a rigorous instructional program that was recognized by the Arizona Department of Education as “exemplary” in 2020, Laveen Elementary has also been named a 2022 A+ School of Excellence by the Arizona Educational Foundation, a 2022 National School of Distinction by the Association for Middle Level Education and rated “A” by the Arizona Department of Education. We are proud of our students and staff, who work tirelessly each day!

Laveen Elementary School maintains a strong focus on health and wellness, supporting the development of students’ emotional balance, self-awareness, and healthy lifestyle habits. By engaging in wellness practices, students build the resilience and tools needed to navigate an increasingly complex and fast-paced world. Our Character Strong curriculum is used to support our Health and Wellness program. Character Strong focuses on nine character traits throughout the year: empathy, responsibility, courage, perseverance, gratitude, honesty, and creativity. Our character education program is approved by the Arizona Department of Education and is taught in all classrooms, PreK-8th grade.

Our Character Strong program focuses on nine character traits throughout the year: empathy, respect, cooperation, responsibility, courage, perseverance, gratitude, honesty, and creativity. Our character education program is approved by the Arizona Department of Education and is taught in all classrooms, PreK–8th grade. We encourage students always strive to be “the best versions of themselves.”

Parents are encouraged to monitor student progress by logging into our online gradebook through the parent portal on our district website at www.laveeneld.org. We also utilize Parent Square to communicate newsletters, upcoming events, and other important information. If you are new to ParentVUE or Parent Square, please reach out to the front office for assistance.

All students will be given a new ID badge, plastic holder, and lanyard on the first day of school. Students are expected to wear their ID each day as part of their school uniform. An ID is required to enter onto campus, eat lunch in the cafeteria, ride the bus, and check-out library books.

In regards to student attendance, please remember that students are expected to be at school each day, unless they are ill. We also ask that you schedule all appointments outside of the school day, to avoid classroom disruptions and missed instruction.

Do not forget that each Friday is “Spirit Wear Friday” and school spirit wear may be worn as part of the school uniform. Spirit wear is available at www.laveenspiritwear.com.

Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education and please contact me or our front office if we can ever be of assistance.

Go Hawks!

Sincerely,

Melissa Garcia, Principal
